Few day back a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit the mountain in Sabbah, Malaysia and at least 16 people are confirmed dead. Among them are 6 Singaporean school children on a field trip, along with their teacher and guide in the world famous tourist destination for climbersand tourist alike. Two people are still missing on the mountain while hundreds of workers continue their search in the hopes to still find them alive. Despite the devastating loss of lives, including those of innocent students, one thought to be missing has been found and many others made it out safe including 167 climbers with the help of mountain guides. The earthquake hit just as the 4,095-metre-high (13,435-foot) mountain, a popular destination for hikers, was crowded with visitors seeking its sunrise views over Borneo island.
Malaysian officials have said the students were aged 12 and 13 are the once missing. Malaysian police say the dead or missing also include several Malaysians, and one each believed to be from China, Japan and the Philippines. Body parts had been found on sections of the mountain, suggesting the awesome power of the landslides.
