Alaska- Earthquake 5.8 magnitude hits the west of Willow rattled Alaska, at noon on Wednesday, about 60 miles west. The earthquake struck around 2:30 p.m. about 70 miles below the earth’s surface. Its center was about 20 miles south of that of the6.2-magnitude earthquake that jostled the statein September 2014. A spokesperson said that the earthquake was “certainly tied to the Pacific Ocean tectonic plate” underneath Cook Inlet, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
