Britain to send more troops to Iraq in fight against the Islamic state. The British prime minister Mr David Cameron said the troops who are 125 in number are to provide training to security forces In Iraq. The troops, who will be based in several locations throughout the country, take the number involved in the mission to just under 1,000. Mr Cameron will discuss the extra British involvement, which Downing Street denies represents any form of 'mission creep', at a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Abadi whowill attend the G7 summit tomorrow. Mr Cameron will also warn President Barack Obama that he can no longer promise the UK will keep its commitment to maintain Britain's defence budget in the face of further austerity. We’re already the second largest contributor in terms of air strikes in Iraq, and support for the Syrian opposition,”Cameron told reporters.“But I’m announcing today that we’re increasing our training effort in Iraq. It’s a particular request the Abadi government has made, it’s a particular thing we’ve been working with the Americans on.
