6 school children drown to death, after boat capsize in Lagos.

Nigeria- 6 school children drown to death after their boat capsize on their way to school. The 6 school children drowned yesterday after a canoe they boarded to carry all fourteen of them to school from Ojo to Irawe jetty in Lagos collided with a fibre boat causing their boat to capsize. 8 of the students and the  driver were rescued.
The rescued students who are mainly primary and secondary students are responding to treatment at the Igando general hospital, where they have been admitted. the numbers of students rescue was eight, and Six that were missing have been found, But unfortunately, none of them survived.
The captain  the speed boat had been arrested, None of the children were wearing life jackets, which are compulsory on Lagos waterways. Drownings occur frequently during the rainy season, when ocean levels rise and tidal waves are common.
